EASY WAY #1 - Furniture-carrying straps
When it comes to moving, having more than 2 hands can come in handy. But most of us have only two hands as far as I know. lol
However, I will share a secret way to instantly grow an extra pair of hands. Furniture carrying straps also knowns as Shoulder Dolly can act as an additional pair of hands and take some of the weight off of your back. Since you still have 2 free hands, you can use them to hold your furniture and prevent it from tipping or to guide your item through doors and tight hallways. As magical as it is to grow an extra pair of hands in seconds.
Furniture carrying straps are not ideal when going up or down a flight of stairs. Gravity takes over and spoils the party as the weight of your furniture item shift completely on the person on the lower end.
EASY WAY #2 - Shrink wrap and blankets to protect your furniture
Furniture items can often get scratched and ruined when you move them around. One of the the best tools around to prevent scratches and other damages is using the bubble wrap and shrink wrap. When paired with thick moving blankets, it adds another layer of protection for your furniture as well as your walls and floors. Sure, renting them is cheap, but you can buy several used blankets for just a few dollars on Facebook Marketplace or similar websites and always have them on hand. Bubble wrap is best to protect delicate wood pieces. Shrink wrap and blankets work well for most wooden, metal or upholstered furniture. It is also a good idea to use corrugated cardboard sheets in between wooden pieces. This adds extra protection and helps prevent gouges or scratches while moving furniture.
EASY WAY #3 - Remove the back off of your recliner
Recliners are usually the most comfortable furniture we own and at the same time they can be the most uncomfortable pieces of furniture to move around.
Did you know that you can remove the back of your recliner? Oh yes, you can! And it makes it EASY to move it around. Simply walk to the back your recliner and reach under the back rest to find brackets on the inside or outside of the back frame. Sometimes they are hard to move so you can use needle nose pliers. Slide the back rest upward to unhook it from the recliner. When you are ready to move your recliner remember to not lift it from the foot rest as it may open and it hard to move. Instead lift it on its side. VOILA!
EASY WAY #4 - Slide your furniture on moving blankets
Moving furniture around a room can be challenging for people that are not very strong. Fortunately there is an easy and safe way to move your items around without worrying about scratching your floors or the furniture. Heavy furniture does not need to be carried all the time. When moving it around the same room or floor, it is much easier to slide it using one or two thick blankets. Dressers, credenzas, coffee tables, and other narrow, heavy pieces of furniture that can be placed on their tops or sides are good candidates for this technique.
